Provincial park with boat launch. Playground and wading pool. 66 treed serviced and unserviced sites suitable for tents and RVs. Born out of a community push in the mid-1950s, Winagami Lake became a provincial park with something unusual going for it—the lakebed itself sits inside the park boundary. The result? A shallow lake and surrounding forest that turn into a seasonal bird metropolis, packed with songbirds, shorebirds, and flocks of migrating waterfowl passing through.
The lake is a playground for all kinds of water lovers: anglers trying their luck year-round, paddlers weaving along the shoreline, even windsurfers when the breeze shows off. Families can stake out the day-use area, where a shallow splash pool gives kids a safe, easy way to cool off.
Around two kilometres of trail loop through the park for easy walks and bike rides in the warmer months, then switch hats for skiing and snowshoeing when winter rolls in. And if you’re hungry for more miles, the O’Mahony Conservation Area sits about 15 minutes away with another eight kilometres of trail waiting to be explored.
A small park with big variety—perfect for nature buffs, birdwatchers, and anyone who likes their adventures served with a side of quiet.
Located 20 km north of High Prairie on Highway 749, then 10 km west on Highway 679, and finally 7 km north on an access road.
